Miz Pee
When I first saw this I thought it was a joke, one of those countless rumors that fly, around email in boxes, but now I have confirmation.
This tool which find you a local bathroom and gives you a cleanliness rating is 100% real. Users rate the bathroom so that you can go in a sanitary location. Once you get past the initial oddity of this you start to see it’s real value (especially if you happen to be female or have children)
It’s available on site, as a widget and soon for mobile phones.
Happy Holidays
Hello All I’ll be away tomorrow, so I’m spreading some holiday cheer. Enjoy some videos.
Warning About Apps on Your Mobile Phone

Mobile apps (web apps on your cell phones) can be a lot of fun be beware what you choose. Aside from virus potential and costs you might incur with your phone company that you might not even be aware of (such as data transfer fees and extra used minutes) you are also using memory. Phones are like any device, use them too hard one they get slow and eventually break.
So how can you avoid this?
1. Don’t download an app you don’t need, or just to find out what it does
2. Don’t loan (or leave alone with) your phone with a know irresponsible downloader
3. Every 6 months review your apps. That app to Id songs and find there ring tones was cool when you got it. Do you use it now? If not delete it.
It’s as simple as 1,2,3.
Can You Really Live on Webware (Parts 1 and 2)
Hello Everyone. Usually I would do this in 2 different posts, but the last Thursdays dosen’t seem to have gone through. So enjoy this one. I’ll make up for my lateness by giving you some extra love in the form of links.

Can you run on nothing but web apps? A question many people want answered. If so, commercial software, and their revenue may soon be obsolete. It seems that this question depends on who you are. In this 2 part series we will take a look at how likely that is for an individual and for a business.
Today we will begin with an individual. What are the most common uses of an individual on the computer?
-Word processing/documents
-Music
-Videos
-Email/chat
-Directions
-Information seeking/research
-Games
Lets blow down that list.
-Word processing/documents: there are many tools that will allow you to make and send documents of all types online (see the office suite tag on this site for options)
-Music: web radio is abundant
-Videos: Youtube and it’s analogues as well as popular shows being put online by TV stations
-Email/chat: web mail (like gmail/yahoo/excite) and chat widgets are nothing new
-Directions: you already get these online, you can even get them in your home
-Information: Research and Shopping, you already get this online
-Games: Flash games are abundant

Part 2 Business
What are the needs of business?
-Documents/presentations/spreadsheets/office software
-payment processing
-sending large files
-data storage/record keeping
-communications
The answers:
-Office software: There are many choices, the most versatile and reliable of which is Zoho office. (Last month we did a full review of a month with Zoho office, check it out for more information)
-Payment processing: paypal and its analogues abound
-Sending large files: see this months post on drop send
-Data storage: Many online sites will do this, or you can just use your hard drive.
-Communication: Skype or Wizzi for calls.
-Web mail for email: Chat through AIM, ICQ, Gtalk or any other private chat service.
(You can still see your employees face to face with skype)

(A Map of where you can use Pay Pal)

How to Send Large Files, without cursing.
Did you ever have to send a big file, one too big for you to email? When it’s big, and it has to be there now, you can use a file transfer service, but it has to be secure, after all if you dot it an lime wire then anyone can use it, not good for intellectual propositions rights or sensitive data.Just use drop send. For a free registration you can send files as big as a gig and store up to 250 mgs of data. Not to shabby considering it is free.
Wizzi
The web app you won’t be able to live without Wizzi is a virtual phone (ala voip) only you make free video and voice calls to another web calling user. If you call a non-virtual phone it’s only 1.5 cents a minute.
While right now it is only for a computer but the company says that soon a version for mobile phones will be released. Imagine picking up your phone and having 2 ways to make a call.
In addition to just making calls the Wizzi comes with some fun extras. Wizzi can:
-play live TV
-play internet radio
-give you access to the hottest web games
-give you access to your videos, photos and music
go and check out the program, it comes with 10 minutes of free talk time.
- sorry all. this one is so new there are no screenshots-
Google Maps on the Go
I promised we would start to talk about web apps for your mobile phones, and here it is. If you are looking for a web app for your mobile phone you are on the go, the only question is, do you know how to get there?
If not, google maps for mobile is the tool for you. It has both the traditional map view and the satellite view that you can get on google maps for your computer. It works well with your phones GPS and can give you a variety of maps sizing and details.

Wrapping up The Month w/Zoho Office
Hello All This is the final review of my month with Zoho Office. Next week we will be taking a look at some web apps for your mobile phone, and not just if you own the 500 dollar I phone.
Day 25
Zoho Meeting. This is a great feature, no download web conferencing. I love the idea, and I love the cost, free. The only thing I didn’t like is to initiate the chat you have to be on a Windows platform, and I cant help but find this kind of a proprietary restriction to be an oddity from an open source product. Maybe they will fix that in the future. Day 27
Zoho challenge. This is great, its free employee testing. I had my intern give it a try and she didn’t have any problems using it. I saw her answers quickly and I have to say that if I had a lot of candidates to choose from I would have used this tool to decide. Day 30 - Wrap Up All and all Zoho has been pretty good. I am going to stick with it, If I happen to find any other issues I will mention them for your education. All in all I say go and give Zoho a try. It has a high level of compatibility and you can work with it on just about any platform, provided you aren’t trying to initiate a chat.
Life with Zoho Office part 3
Day 15
Notebook, I don’t usually like the Notebook style of information sharing. If I want to cluster my information I will just use a Wiki, but I have to admit that this one holds its own well. It was painfully easy to integrate videos and photos into the text, and the sharing it cool, but the biggest application I see for this is a project book or a high school yearbook.Day 16
The Wikis- Ok, So I said I don’t like notebooks, well, I love Wikis, and Zoho has done an outstanding job of creating a personal wiki maker that you can share if you want to, and that makes finding all your things easy. I loved the custom themes, and the table of contents is a great way to find what I want without any searching at all. Cant beat that!Day 20
Zoho Chat - I gave this a lot of thought, and I just don’t see much of a use for it. If I wanted a chat room for my site, I would put one in, and if I want to private messenger I would use jabber or Aim. This just seems like it was thrown in to “Complete the Suite” so to speak and not give critics something to bust on for being missing. All and all it was a very generic offering, not up to the rest of Zoho’s standards.
